about
Some songs take years to write and others feel like they come out in a single exhale. It was April of last year and I was taking my daily walk around our neighborhood on the first day of 2020 that truly felt like spring. By the time I made it back to the front door my phone was filled with a series of voice memos making up the bones of "Do You Remember Places." The lyrics are a hyper-specific snapshot of that moment (mostly drinking way too much on Zoom) and we optimistically thought by the time we were able to put the pieces together the sentiment would no longer have any relevance. We set it aside and remotely chipped away at writing and recording a batch of songs that will eventually make up the next Cassettes album but sadly, our initial optimism was unfounded. Things are still totally weird but they are getting better and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Over the past few months we decided to revisit this song about what it felt like last spring. We threw the kitchen sink at it, added every bell and whistle possible and brought it to life from our living rooms, basements and home offices. We are excited to share this with you, get back to making music in a room together soon and singing in crowded spaces with you in the not too distant future.
All proceeds from this song will help fund the installation of a Water Filtration System and Solar Panels at the Karama Education Center in Uganda. The project is a collaboration between the Conshohocken Plymouth Whitemarsh Rotary, Living Waters for the World, Conshohocken United Methodist Church and The Chain Collaborative to bring power and potable water to the school and its community. Installation is scheduled for Fall 2021. We hope that this release can help bring the project a little closer to it's final fundraising goal. Terrific jangle pop with an edge, somewhere between Television Personalities and R.E.M. with a bit of Kinks in there, too. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 2, 2023
Great, thrashing, melodic indie rock from this Illinois group that juxtaposes sugary vocal hooks with barbed guitars. Bandcamp New & Notable May 28, 2022
